About the Artist
The natural world, whether cultivated or wild, is where the themes for Rachel’s illustrations and paintings arise. Her artwork is a bow of gratitude to this world and the grounding, clarity, and wisdom it gifts us when we listen. Shortly after the pandemic started, Rachel realized that it was harder to feel like her feet were on the earth, so she started to draw roots.
Drawing roots during a time of global uncertainty and the revealing of what parts of our own collective roots systems are no longer structurally sound helped ground Rachel and widen perspective. The drawing of roots acted as a reminder that sustenance, nourishment, and new life emerge out of dormant dark places and spaces. Rachel lives in Bozeman, MT.
